SNN Nijmegen is a research group interested in machine learning, neural networks and applications of these methods. We are part of the Donders Institute for Neuroscience, situated at the Radboud University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands. Our group forms the headquarters of SNN (Stichting Neurale Netwerken), the Dutch Foundation for Neural Networks, a national network of research groups on neural networks and affiliated techniques. SNN Nijmegen is part of the European network of Excellence Pascal and of the ICIS consortium. SNN has founded two spin-off companies: Smart Research BV and Promedas BV.
SNN received a large grant for the
period 1992 to 2002 by the Japanese Real World Computing Program, an
initiative of MITI, the Japanese Ministry of International Trade and
Industry. SNN Nijmegen was awarded a PIONIER subsidy from STW in 1997
and funded research until 2007. Besides this, several more applied
projects are subsidized by STW (see STW's platform neural networks) as well as other national and international subsidies.
SNN Nijmegen is headed by Prof.Dr. Bert Kappen. Depending on how and when you count, our group further consists of about ten researchers, ranging from Master students to postdocs, with indispensable support of one secretary and two programmers. |
